Ferrous ascorbate
Ferrous ascorbate is a synthetic molecule of ascorbic acid and iron. Ascorbic acid enhances absorption of iron. Ascorbic acid reduces Ferric iron to ferrous iron which remains soluble even at neutral pH. Ascorbate is a reducing agent and prevents oxidation. Thus maintain iron in highly soluble ferrous form.
Folic acid
Folic acid is a form of water soluble vitamin. Folic acid is itself not biologically active but its biological importance is due to tetrafolate and other derivatives after its conversion to dihydrofolic acid in the liver. The human body needs folate to synthesize DNA, DNA repair DNA and methylate DNA as well as to act as co-factor in certain biological reaction. Children & adult both require folate to produce healthy red blood cells and prevent anemia. Adequate folate intake during the pre conception period (which is the time right before and just after a woman becomes pregnant) helps protect against a number of congenital malformation.
